10 Talents

I was listening to one of my mentors today when I suddenly recalled the parable of the talents – some of you might know it. It’s the one in the Bible about the man who before he went away gave 10 talents to 10 of his servants to engage in business.
One servant made 10 talents from the 1 talent given, another servant made 2 talents and a third servant kept the talent wrapped away because he was afraid. He saw his master as a hard man. The first two servants were given authorities over cities according to how they managed the talent, the third servant had his 1 talent given to the first servant.

Traditionally, this parable has been seen as a call to Christians to use their God-given gifts and I’m not here to dispute that.
All of us are in a different place in our lives right now.
Some are happy with how they are progressing, others are generally happy but think they could do better, there’ll be those who get by not expecting to be happy and still others who are not doing so well and think that’s just the way it is.
So what if we have all been given the 1 talent? And that talent is everything we need to do well in life, to achieve our dreams whatever they might be. And the real limitation is how we see the giver, be it God or the universe.
What would you do with your 1 talent?
