It was time to do something...

Like a few people I've met recently, I spent my childhood and teenage years being very inactive. I hoped never to be called to participate in any physical activity, avoided PE (physical education) classes at all costs, often very conveniently and sometimes violently ill!

What it all meant was that by the time I became an adult, there were many things I could not physically do. I was a weakling. When travelling, my luggage was limited to 19 kilos because I was unable to lift anything beyond that off the conveyor belt onto the ground.

Are you good at picking scabs?

Remember a time when you fell, maybe skinned your knees? As it started to heal, scabs formed. What did you do then? Did you pick at the scabs or did you let it heal? Well, I did (*eye roll*). Sometimes the skin under it had healed, sometimes it hadn't and that hurt!

In life, we can do the same without even knowing it.

Who do you hang out with?

Today I had coffee with a beautiful beautiful woman.
So strong, so feminine, a generous spirit – so full of grace.
Yes. Strong and feminine do belong in the same sentence.

10 Talents

I was listening to one of my mentors today when I suddenly recalled the parable of the talents – some of you might know it. It’s the one in the Bible about the man who before he went away gave 10 talents to 10 of his servants to engage in business.
One servant made 10 talents from the 1 talent given, another servant made 2 talents and a third servant kept the talent wrapped away because he was afraid. He saw his master as a hard man. The first two servants were given authorities over cities according to how they managed the talent, the third servant had his 1 talent given to the first servant.

Doing It All Myself

Some believe that to achieve the best outcomes, they must do the work themselves. Yesterday I fell into that trap...
A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a lovely blackwood bedroom suite.
‘Would you like assembly with that?’, asked the salesman.
‘It’s only $25’, he added.
‘It’s my first proper bed in years’, I thought. ‘I’ll feel great putting it together myself’.
